Synopsis

Iron Man #201 synopsis by T Vernon
Rating: 4.5 stars
Explosions from the destructing Stane complex threaten the captive Pepper and Happy Hogan and Mrs Arbogast; realizing they are still in there, Iron Man (Tony Stark again) dashes in and rescues them. In a secret part of the lab, though, Madame Masque awakens to a great deal of confusion; Shellhead detects her cries and snatches her to safety too. Outside, Obadiah Stane's personal mad scientist Dr. Theron Atlanta is picked up by an A.I.M. craft; Tony is too busy to pursue as he gets Masque to a medical unit—where she insists she isn't Madame Masque. When Bethany Cabe appears, Masque attacks her and Iron Man saves her; Bethany and Tony arrange to meet up in California....
Interlude 1: James Rhodes comforts Clytemnestra Erwin whose brother Morley was killed in issue #199.
Interlude 2: Madame Masque assaults several guards and escapes from prison....
Aboard A.I.M.'s underwater base, villainous Yorgon Tykkio introduces himself to Dr. Atlanta and dispatches a number of A.I.M. aircraft to attack the Avengers West Coast compound. Iron Man arrives to find Hawkeye, Mockingbird, and Tigra engaged in an air battle with the A.I.M. ships. With his new array of weapons, Iron Man leads the Avengers team to victory, even preventing a deadly crash at a baseball game. Elsewhere, A.I.M.'s Scientist Supreme demands to know who approved the disastrous attack on the Avengers; he is told that he did, part of Yorgon Tykkio's plan to seize power....
Epilogue: Bethany Cabe arrives in Los Angeles and the first thing she does is to purchase a deadly handgun to use on Tony Stark....

Review / Commentaries

Iron Man #201 Review by (September 5, 2016)
Comments: Part one of three parts; part two will be in issue #203. First appearance of Yorgon Tykkio. There is a cameo by L.A. Dodgers player Ken Landreaux, only the spelling is changed to Ken Landro. For some odd reason, Bethany Cabe's hair is black on the final page.

Review: The all-new Iron Man armor gets a very nice workout in this issue in the spectacular air battle sequences. Tony Stark is back and the book can go in a new direction (which technically is the old direction since putting Rhodey in the armor was the new direction). Anyway, pretty nice issue full of excitement and mystery (the Bethany Cabe/Madame Masque parts—though I'm sure astute readers have already figured it out), continuing a very nice run in the series.
