The expedition to stop Thanos has come to a halt because of the Hulk’s reluctance to join the team, Silver Surfer decides he needs a diversion to prepare for the coming battle and visits Central Park. There he finds Rhino releasing the animals from their cages in the zoo. Rhino explains that, with the end of the world imminent the animals deserve to spend their last days in freedom. Surfer assures him that Thanos will be stopped and asks his help in returning the animals to their cages. Rhino responds with a punch.
A fight ensues with the Surfer reluctant to strike back with his full power. Eventually the frustrated Surfer seizes Rhino by the horn, and prepares to strike but they are distracted by a gunshot: a police officer has shot a tiger. Rhino shows his tender side, weeping over the slain animal, explaining he only wanted to help the animals. Surfer understands but explains that cages are frequently for the animals’ own good, and, in the absence of any alternative, the hero and the villain round up the animals, with the Surfer healing the tiger.
The Silver Surfer returns to the meeting place to find an impatient Hulk sarcastically requesting his attendance at the party.
