A Hole in the Head

Synopsis

Captain America: White #3 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 4 stars

Having scaled a mountain, Captain America, Bucky, and the Howling Commandos are captured by a squad of Nazi soldiers. The German commander mocks the weak Americans so Cap headbutts him in the face, uses his shield to protect the others and beats the stuffings out of the enemy. Sgt. Nick Fury wants to throw the captives off the cliff but Cap vetos the action so instead the Nazis are tied to trees. The team then disguise themselves as the Nazis (with Fury reluctant to don an eyepatch) with Cap and Bucky as prisoners. They suddenly encounter a band of partisans led by a woman and a fight breaks out with Cap clobbering the savate master Batroc. It turns out that Marilyne (code name: Gypsy) and her team are the Americans’ contacts and knew who they were as they had already encountered the captive Germans. Cap is appalled to learn that the partisans had thrown the Nazi captives off the cliff and he argues with Gypsy who defends her actions by citing the Nazi atrocities against her nation and people. She leads them through an underground sewer and asks Cap to climb a ladder to see if he finds anything. The cover opens in a large auditorium full of Nazis soldiers being addressed by the Red Skull….

Captain America: White #3 Review by (October 18, 2015)
Comments: Tim Sale’s full page fight of Cap and Batroc copies Jack Kirby’s classic battle scene from TALES OF SUSPENSE #85; Sale even adds “Thanks, Jack!” at the bottom.

Review: See issue #1 for review.
