Synopsis

Fear Itself: The Fearless #2 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 4 stars

Prologue: In a bunker outside Berlin in 1945, Valkyrie discovers a horrific science lab. She is attacked by vampire samurai Raizo Kodo who mistakes her for one of the Nazi Thule Society. She had wanted to question them, but Raizo slew them for their warped attempts to enslave vampires. Before he leaves, though, he warns Val that the building is wired to explode….

Today in Transylvania, a young woman is attacked by a vampire but Valkyrie suddenly appears and beheads it. Finding her way to an old mill, she again encounters Raizo Kodo who has the next hammer….

In Paris, Crossbones seeks the Hammer of Mokk (Grey Gargoyle) and finds it in the possession of a sad little sect who wants to use it to return to the peace of petrifaction. Crossbones slaughters the group and takes the hammer….

The Hammer of Nul was broken up by the Hulk after he was freed from its spell; Raizo Kodo stole the pieces to keep it out of the hands of Dracula—and that also means protecting it from Valkyrie. Her valor in the battle convinces him that Asgard has more right to the weapon than he does and so he turns over the bag containing the shards. As Valkyrie departs through the forest she is confronted by her old allies from the Secret Avengers, who demand the hammer. As the situation grows tense, a distraction comes—as the group is surrounded by a horde of bloodthirsty vampires….

Review: See full review at issue #1.

Comments: Sin does not appear in this issue. Raizo Kodo was introduced in TOMB OF DRACULA: THRONE OF BLOOD #1 and played a major role in FEAR ITSELF: HULK VS. DRACULA, hence his presence here.
