Hulk #12 Review by (August 26, 2019)

Review: A really nice issue what with the revelations about Fort Knox, the interplay between Doc Green and Maria Hill—and between them and the elevator operator—the appearance of the Gamma Corps people (though they don't get to do much), and the coda with Deadpool which hints that Hulk stole the gold from Fort Knox. Fun from beginning to end.

Comments: This Gamma Corps was created in WORLD WAR HULK: GAMMA CORPS #1-4; this is their final appearance (as of 2019).

Hulk #12 Synopsis by Julio Molina-Muscara

Hulk a/k/a Doc Green visits a dojo in Harlem where he allows Iron Fist (Daniel Rand) to punch him with his signature strike. Doc asks Danny to teach him that move; Danny can't as only he is Iron Fist so Doc asks to be taught kung-fu to face his enemy, the Green AI....

Maria Hill is called to Fort Knox: a rogue Life Model Decoy killed a SHIELD agent and fled to the nation's gold depository. Doc Green arrives soon after to Hill's consternation. Doc is there because it's the secret base of Gamma Corps, the gamma-powered team created to destroy the Hulk. Doc and Hill head down to the lowest level where they find the LMD in a battle suit fighting the Gamma Corps agents: Grey, Griffin, Mess, and Prodigy. The LMD is the Green AI, arguing that the Gamma agents should not just be de-powered but eliminated. Doc tears apart the battle suit but it's a trap: the AI detonates plastic explosives and Doc shields the other from the blast. Doc lets Hill in on a secret: at some point a mystery figure replaced the gold bars in Fort Knox with gold plated tungsten bars; he bites one open to demonstrate. In the elevator up, Doc injects the four Gamma Corps agents with the cute and they are de-powered.....

Doc returns to the Baxter Building and asks Daman Veteri and Randall Jessup if they have located Lyra; they haven't as the AI could have sent her almost anywhere. Doc then meets with a guest he has invited: Deadpool, who is posing for a selfie in tattered purple pants. Doc wants DP to locate General Thunderbolt Ross for him, promising to pay in gold bars....
