Story
continues from THOR #26.
The
Watcher sets the stage for us: today will decide who is stronger: Hulk or Thor.
The Hulked-out Thor and the Mjolnir-wielding Hulk are battling to the finish.
Odin, with Bruce Banner inside Hulk’s psyche, tells Banner to bring Hulk to
Asgard. And so the two combatants land in the Golden Realm, surprising Sif,
Beta Ray Bill, and Tony Stark, among many others as the two appear to have
exchanged places. Bill points out that Thor is unleashing his fullest power for
the first time in a fight with Hulk, having always held back out of compassion
for Bruce Banner—and now Thor rips Hulk’s arm off. At Odin’s suggestion, Hulk
pushes Thor into Yggdrasil, the World-Tree, allowing its tendrils to hold him
fast. But Thor tears his way free and uproots the massive tree, terrifying
everyone. Bruce suggests talk rather than violence so Odin, speaking through
Hulk’s mouth, assures his son that, despite all his mistakes, he still loves
him. This unleashes a massive energy burst that restores Hulk and Thor to normal
and also repairs Yggdrasil. Hulk changes into his Starship form and takes off
but Sif tells Tony that Hulk is dead. Tony can’t get used to that fact as Thor
sends him home via goat-powered sled. Alone, Thor and Sif hope for the best for
Hulk and Bruce Banner….
