Years ago, Betty Ross was concerned
about a butterfly caught in a spider's web; her father's aide,
then-Captain Fortean, explained how spiders do a valuable job of
keeping the insect population under control. Betty still wishes the
butterfly would destroy the web and escape....
Now, Dr. McGowan is shocked to discover
her new, non-human Abomination has killed two civilians (a cabbie and
a hotel desk clerk, last issue) and shouts at General Fortean that
she warned him to keep it out of populated areas. But Fortean doesn't
care, as the Abomination with a double face of Rick Jones is fighting
Hulk on the streets of Reno. The monster's digestive juices cause
Hulk's fist to melt—and not heal. And he can spit the acid out of
his twin mouths....
Marge, the hotel clerk who witnessed
the grisly death of her friend at the hands of the Abomination, runs
into some of Fortean's agents. They kill her and move on, running
into Jackie McGee who is accompanied by the Red Harpy; Harpy kills
them all gruesomely to Jackie's shock as she was hoping to question
them and uncover the sinister plot. They move on and encounter Hulk
and Abomination. By this time, all four of Hulk's limbs have been
burned away by his foe's acid and his eyes are gone. He hears Betty's
voice and calls for Hulk; instead she rips out his heart and eats
it....
