Indestructible Hulk #12 Review by (May 6, 2019)

Review: Enjoyable entry into the arc with a futuristic bad guy in the Old West, and guest appearances by the stars of Marvel's three long-defunct western series. And “Bruce” wonders why “Kid” was such a popular title in the cowboy era, or Marvel's fictional version thereof. Not a lot to say, just that this was a lot of fun. PS When Baltusar is hurled back into the timestream the dinosaurs go with him.

Comments:AGE OF ULTRON Aftermath”--Cover. Sole appearance of Tok Baltusar. The western heroes' “We never got a chance to thank him” is a callback to the Lone Ranger. Kim Jacinto contributed to the inking.

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Indestructible Hulk #12 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

Hulk in his timestream armor and Bruce Banner's consciousness in a ROB robot are in the Old West, meeting Two-Gun Kid, Kid Colt, Rawhide Kid; no time to chat, Hulk must battle a giant T-Rex. The trio of Kids tells “Bruce” that they have been summoned to the mining town of Silver Rock to battle a strange character who has made himself sheriff. Once the dinosaur is defeated, the party continues on to the town where they find a Chronarchist called Tok Baltusar oppressing the locals by forcing them to work in the mines or they don't eat, backing up this threats with a bunch of displaced dinosaurs. Baltusar sics a pteranodon on the Hulk while his deputies, gunslingers moving at an inhuman speed, take on the humans. Hulk defeats the flying foe and drops down to the streets where he clouts the deputies who instantly age ten years. Figuring out the situation, “Bruce” has the Kids shoot at the stabilizers on Baltusar's armor while he lures Hulk into the mines by insulting him. “Bruce” has deduced that Baltusar, back in prehistoric times, seeded the silver mine with an alchemical virus that has transmuted the silver into an alloy that will power time travel. Down in the mines, “Bruce orders Hulk to jump with all his might; he does, causing the mine to implode while damage to his suit hurls Baltusar back into the timestream. The radiation from the mine, however, triggers Hulk's armor to hurl him away in time, landing him in the court of the exiled King Arthur, who is protected by the original Black Knight....
