Marvel Fanfare (1982 series) #23

After his defeat by Doctor Octopus (last issue), Tony Stark is brooding and toasting the damaged Iron Man armor (with ginger ale). As the news reports on Doc Ock’s prison escape and the Grand Jury investigation of Stark International, he repairs and improves the armor. After a quick flight test of the new armor, Tony stops by a board meeting to tell them to stay the course then he races to court where the motion to end the work stoppage is denied. Then he stops by the hospital to visit the injured Cherry Wood and make a date with her after she is released….

That night, shady Turk Barrett is lured into a trap by Daredevil who questions him, then lets him go…straight into he arms of Iron Man who wants to know where Doc Ock is, dangling him in front of a train for emphasis. Turk doesn’t know. After Shellhead leaves, Doc Ock grabs him….

The following night, Tony is at a fine restaurant with Cherry, when Doc Ock comes in, disguised as a waiter and has his extra set of arms carry her off. Tony rings Avengers Mansion to ask for help but hangs up abruptly, confusing Jarvis…. [Vision and Scarlet Witch have cameos in this bit.]

Iron Man traces the villain to a Con Ed electrical station where he tries to rescue Cherry and has a tough time against the adamantium tentacles. Cherry is able to pop one of his energy pods onto the tentacles and they short out. Shellhead dons the adamantium arms, reactivates them and takes down Doctor Octopus with his own weapon….

Charges are dropped against Stark and Tony goes on a second, better dinner date with Cherry….
