Special Deliveries

Synopsis

Quasar #33 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 4 stars

Follows AVENGERS WEST COAST #81

As the Shi’ar ship passes through the stargate, Neutron and Starbolt of the Imperial Guard stay behind to stop Quasar and Her from following. The hero seals Starbolt inside a force bubble and quantum jumps Neutron a light year away, stranding him. Quasar then pursues and enters the ship. He demands that the Shi’ar turn over Captain Atlas and the Nega-Bands to him; they deliver the prisoner but the Bands have already been sent on to the Shi’ar homeworld. Quasar disables their engines and departs with his captive.

Meanwhile on Earth, Kayla Ballantine is troubled by strange dreams as a mysterious figure watches through the window. On Chandilar, the Shi’ar homeworld, the Avengers petition for an audience with the Empress Lilandra—though an impatient Thor resorts to crude threats….

With the aid of Epoch, Quasar finds the ship carrying the Nega-Bands but is intercepted by Binary of the Stajammers who warns him of the dangers of interfering in the war; he continues and is then assaulted by Onslaught, Solar Wind, and others of the Imperial Guard and ends up being teleported to an unknown location in space. The Nega-Bands are delivered to Chandilar and their secret unlocked to create a new weapon. Captain Atlas, recaptured by the Shi’ar, is imprisoned in the dungeon—but rescued by Shatterax….

Review / Commentaries

Quasar #33 Review by (February 28, 2014)
Review: Quasar gets pushed around a bit in this installment and nothing goes quite right, ending with him teleported out of the picture. This makes the issue feel like overly detailed padding. Still good, though. The epic as a whole? One of the best multi-comic crossovers, marked by a complex story, tight plotting, strong characterization, and consistent quality. And it actually tries to mean something in the end! Libraries: Thor

Comments: Part 10 of Operation Galactic Storm. Scarlet Witch is seen only from behind; Starfox and Vision do not appear in the issue. First appearance of Imperial Guardsmen Onslaught, Solar Wind, Voyager, Moondancer, and Glom.
