Wonder Man #8 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 4 stars

Follows QUASAR #33

The Avengers diplomatic team on Shi’ar is granted an audience with the Empress Lilandra. There they see the massive Nega-Portal to be launched through the stargate into Kree Space. The Starjammers have been commanded to tow it into place but Corsair refuses as he will not ferry a dangerous device through his home solar system. The other Starjammers—Ch’ud, Raza, and Hepzibah—then take on the mission. Wonder Man startles his comrades by seizing Vision and chasing after the departing Portal. He uses Vision’s power of intangiblity to enter the machine and seek a means of shutting it down. The Starjammers detect his presence and enter the Portal to fight him. Simon easily defeats them and reveals that the so-called Portal is actually a powerful bomb intended to wipe out the Kree Empire. The ‘Jammers realize they have been duped by Lilandra and jettison their cargo, vanishing through the stargate—leaving Wonder Man and Vision stranded in space aboard the Nega-Portal….

Review / Commentaries

Wonder Man #8 Review by (March 7, 2014)
Review: Another necessary but overly detailed chapter exists mainly to give the title character something flashy to do in the giant crossover. The epic as a whole? One of the best multi-comic crossovers, marked by a complex story, tight plotting, strong characterization, and consistent quality. And it actually tries to mean something in the end!

Comments: Part 11 of Operation Galactic Storm. Starfox appears only in the background of a single panel, suggesting the artist forgot about him. Joke: Lilandra directs the ‘Jammers to the Pan/os’yen System—a reference to inker (though not of this issue) Dan Panosian.
