In the Norn cavern, the spurned Karnilla pits her enchanted Legion of the Lost against Balder.

A thousand galaxies away, the Colonizers detect deadly pulsations that could mean the end of all life. They dispatch a Recorder to find their source.

In Asgard, Loki sends the Warriors Three to fight Mangog. Soon after, Thor arrives at the palace, and confronts Loki. They watch on a visi-crystal as Mangog uses his strength of a billion billion beings to demolish an Asgard outpost, vowing to unsheath the Odinsword and destroy the universe. Thor ventures out, finding Fandral, Hogun and Volstagg caged by Mangog who grasps the Thunder God and prepares to slay him.
