Synopsis

Thor (1966 series) #259 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 4 stars
The Grey Gargoyle threatens Thor and the other rebellious slaves with petrifaction. But the next part is a surprise: he desperately needs their help. He removes their slave-shackles as a sign of good faith and pleads with them to take him back to Earth. He was shot into space in MARVEL TEAM-UP #13 and was picked up by the pirates; defeating their leader in single combat he became their new chief but he is fed up with aliens and wants to go home. Thor and GG plot to work together to battle the pirates and escape; what they don’t know is that all this was overheard by Fee-Lon, the pirate second-in-command (he looks like a lion)….
Back in Asgard, the Executioner and Enchantress demand the surrender of the kingdom or else they will order their silent army to attack; Balder refuses and so war begins….
Grey Gargoyle orders the Asgardian prisoners brought before him as part of the plan for rebellion. At a signal the heroes battle the pirates but Fee-Lon has armed guard waiting for them and so a violent melee takes place, soon the other slaves join in and the contest goes against the pirates. GG seizes the opportunity to head for the ships’ shuttle to escape but he is pursued by Fee-Lon and the craft is accidentally launched with them inside. Gargoyle inadvertently turns the ship’s controls to stone and they crumble; the shuttle goes out of control and explodes. Thor turns the Bird of Prey over to the liberated slaves and the Asgardians take their leave.

Review / Commentaries

Thor (1966 series) #259 Review by (November 4, 2014)
Review: Man, those space pirates are terrible shots, even worse than Imperial Stormtroopers since they can’t even hit the heroes in a small confined area! More fun (and funny) space opera from the good old days.

Comments: Part two of two parts. Part five of “The Quest for Odin.” The Grey Gargoyle hitches a ride on a meteor and returns to Earth in AVENGERS #190 -191. Fee-Lon = Feline. Ha!
