The Serpent Society under the original Viper (Jordan Stryke,
returned from the dead) has reinvented itself as Serpent Solutions, offering to
do the dirty work that major Wall Street corporations need done but are
unwilling to do themselves—and any executive who has a conscience is eliminated
by the Serpents to keep business running smoothly….
The mysterious informer known as the Whisperer has filled new
Captain America Sam Wilson in on the company’s dirty dealings. Meanwhile, Sam
Cap has his own troubles: since being turned into Capwolf last issue by the
evil Dr. Karl Malus he is having trouble such as barking at noises, eating out
of garbage cans, howling at the moon…and shedding. They have called in Dr.
Claire Temple to deal with the problems: Redwing is now a vampire (bitten by
Baron Blood in ALL-NEW CAP #5-6) and Joaquin Torres has been transformed into a
bird-man. While Cap’s condition is temporary, Joaquin’s looks to be permanent
and he is enjoying the power of flight, annoying his keeper Misty Knight….
Looking for inside information on the Serpent Society, Cap
heads to the sleazy side of town to look up Diamondback (Rachel Leighton),
formerly a Society member turned hero for hire but now reduced to being an
exotic dancer. [On a golf course, Viper is reassuring a nervous client that he
has taken steps to deal with their Captain America problem.] A truck crashes
into where Cap and Diamond were sitting and it disgorges three Serpent agents:
Black Racer, Cottonmouth, and Constrictor. Rachel joins Sam in fighting them
off but she is knifed by Black Racer. A ferocious Cap takes them all out and
tends to Rachel’s wound—then she stabs him with a poisoned diamond. When he
recovers consciousness he finds he is a prisoner in the boardroom of Serpent
Solutions….
