Captain America Lives Again! Chapter Two

Synopsis

Captain America #18 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 5 stars
In a Nazi-ruled alternate history: escaping the Nazis by leaping from a window high in the Empire State Building, Captain America lands atop a huge dirigible. The Red Skull orders his soldiers to open fire, causing the hydrogen-filled aircraft to explode and crash to the street below. Cap was able to leap to safety though and finds himself in the Baxter Building. He encounters Reed Richards, whom he had met during the war, and Sue Storm; they smuggle him out of the building before Nazi searchers arrive and direct him to Yancy Street. As Cap makes his way through the city, he dodges the Nazis’ armored elite troops, the Iron Men, and escapes by heading into the subway and leaping atop a passing train. The Iron Men pursue and Cap flings his shield to switch the train onto another track, allowing a low tunnel entrance to scrape the enemy off the top of the train. Leaving the subway and entering an alley near Yancy Street, Cap is met by resistance fighter Ben Grimm, who discovers a tracking device on Cap. The two fight off the pursuing Iron Men and head down another alley—which appears to be a dead end. An escape tunnel opens to reveal Johnny Storm who lights a huge gasoline fire to cover their getaway. Elsewhere, the Red Skull meets with loyal industrialist Tony Stark, who escorts the Skull to a secret lab where Victor von Doom is working on the latest Nazi secret weapon: a time machine. Test volunteer Baron Strucker is transported to prehistoric times and returns with a small dinosaur he had killed. The Red Skull crows that this will allow him to conquer not just the world but eternity….

Review / Commentaries

Captain America #18 Review by (August 10, 2010)
Review: The exciting tale continues, now with familiar Marvel faces (though powerless) echoing their familiar characteristics: Johnny Storm starts a fire, Ben Grimm yells, “It’s clobberin’ time” etc. Another masterpiece.

Comments: “Cap Lives:” Part 2 of 4. Second of two issues published in November.
