Jeph Loeb | Ed McGuinness

Hulk (2008 series) #13 cover

Story Name:

Hulk No More!

Synopsis

Hulk (2008 series) #13 synopsis by Julio M2
Rating: 3 stars
Bruce Banner is at his secret desert lab, the one where Rick Jones used to lock him as the Hulk in a vault in the early days. Banner thinks that he's rid of the Hulk, but he's not happy about it. And feels that the Hulk has not "died".

Suddenly, A-Bomb appears (the blue-skinned monstrous armadillo Rick Jones has been turned into by MODOK). He has the ability to track Banner/Hulk, and now is in full control of Rick (does not speak in two syllables like before), with the side effect that he cannot turn back into his human form (which was the case before).  And we learn that A-Bomb can also mimic the surroundings like a chamaleon.

As they discuss, Ares shows up sent by Norman Osborn to find out if the Hulk's really gone, even if he has to kill Banner in the process. A-Bomb defends Banner but when A-Bomb's in trouble (for an stupid reason), is the scientist who traps Ares in the vault.

Later on, Banner refuses A-Bomb's offer to stick with him. Friends say goodbye, and part ways.

Hulk (2008 series) #13 Review by (February 15, 2010)
Two variant covers available, one by John Romita Jr. based on a famous Spider-Man cover, showing Banner walking out an alley after throwing his purple pants to a trash bin; and the second one showing the Red Hulk surrounded by many Marvel characters celebrating the 70s anniversary of the publishing house.
