Synopsis

Hulk (2008 series) #22 synopsis by Julio M2
Rating: 4 stars
On board the golden Hellicarrier, now home base of the Intelligencia, the Red Hulk fights the Hulked-Out Heroes including Thor, Ms. Marvel, Invisible Woman, Thing, Human Torch, Iceman, and Cyclops. Although more powerful, the process that made them Hulks also decreased their intelligence; the Red Hulk uses this to his advantage and defeats them. But when he finds Bruce Banner hooked into the Intelligencia table along with the other smartest men on Earth (including Dr. Doom, and Mr. Fantastic), the Red Hulk is attacked by Hulked-Out Spider-Man and Wolverine! Rulk dispatches both of them too but has now being wore off. It's when the Red She-Hulk appears with her deadly attack. The Red Hulk cannot resist her, and when she syphons his energy away, Red Hulk turns into his human self for the first time "in front of the readers" (after more than two years of his appearance), revealing his true identity: General Thaddeus Thunderbolt Ross

Another revelation is that the Red She-Hulk is not willing to kill him because Ross is her father: She's Betty Ross!

In the meantime, Doc Samson reveals against the Leader, who gets M.O.D.O.K. to knock him out with a powerful blast.

Review / Commentaries

Hulk (2008 series) #22 Review by (May 19, 2010)
It was clever by writer Jeph Loeb to make Thunderbolt Ross the Red Hulk, but I don't think the Red Hulk's behavior from the earlier issues (killing a deer, murdering a Wendigo, hitting a Watcher, fighting women, etc.) matches Ross. And showing Ross next to the Red Hulk in many issues, that's just a low blow.
