Synopsis

Immortal Hulk #46 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 4.5 stars

At Shadow Base C, Doc Samson, in Sasquatch’s body, deduces that Walter Langkowski has stolen his (Samson’s) body. Shaman excuses himself to return to his own life. The radio reports that Hulk has been subdued by the U-Foes in Manhattan. The twisted form of Rick Jones wants to go to his aid and Puck does too. Charlene McGowan had that in mind all along, Jackie McGee wants to go where they will find the answers. And so….

Meanwhile, in a cemetery in New Jersey, Hulk is back and bigger than before. The U-Foes go to battle and are severely outclassed. Hulk crushes Ironclad’s head and swallow’s X-Ray’s radiation; Vapor turns to sulfuric acid gas for an attack and Hulk merely inhales her and breathes her back out onto Vector, blinding him. Vector panics and blasts Hulk back toward Manhattan….

The U-Foes report to Henry Peter Gyrich who is angry that they failed in their mission to capture Hulk; they respond by casting the blame back at him. Gyrich then steels himself for the unpleasant task of having to ask the Avengers for help….

Hulk walks into a bar and orders a drink, terrifying the bartender. But a pitcher of beer doesn’t have the effect he wants so he orders whiskey—and then Thor walks in and clouts him with Mjolnir multiple times. Hulk only has to hit back once and the God of Thunder is out on the street…

…where the assembled Avengers are waiting. Captain America, Iron Man, She-Hulk, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, and Blade want him to submit. Panther points out it is still seven against one. And then Red Harpy arrives to announce “Seven against two”….

Review / Commentaries

Immortal Hulk #46 Review by (May 5, 2021)

Review: Pretty cool issue with Hulk beating the stuffings out of the U-Foes with a promise of him doing the same to the Avengers next time. See you in thirty!

Comments: Story title comes from a 1974 song by Helen Reddy. The bar is called Wein’s, after classic Hulk writer Len Wein; Hulk also makes a joke reference to the TV series CHEERS, set in a bar. The Immortal Hulk last battled the Avengers in issue #7. The inkers are Ruy Jose and Belardino Brabo.
