Thor and Loki
have defeated Kemur, the bull-headed king of the city NRGL in Utgard. Hermod
scoops up the gravely wounded Heimdall and Loki retrieves the arrow that slew their
foe, made from the Eternity Mask—but Thor knows there is something Loki isn’t telling
him….
Utgard-Loki
watches them all, toys with the idea of freezing them in time for eternity,
decides he must keep to the rules, oldest of which is that Thor must pass his
trial….
The heroes exit
the land through the Gate and Thor asks Skurge to help him close it, to trap
the denizens of Utgard in their realm. But Utgard-Loki appears to them and destroys
the gate. Thor orders Hermod to take Heimdall to safety over the Black Bridge
while he must be the gate. Skurge offers to stand beside him but Thor denies
him, ordering him to guard the bridge, should Thor fall. Then the army of
Utgard arrives, led by Mejed the hooded one….
From the
Rainbow Bridge, Sif sees Thor in danger and dashes into the city to summon
help. She discovers her brother Heimdall is alive again and Hermod near death
from his exertions. Volstagg offers to care for them and Sif thanks him….
Thor battles
the hordes of Utgard and their ruler Mejed. Thor calls down lighting on his foe
and his axe Tormod returns to Thor, tearing through Mejed’s body. The villain
dies. Thor lives. He crosses the Bridge, seeing Sif his beloved on the other
side…and then Thor dies, stabbed in the back by Loki with the arrow made from
the Eternity Mask….
