Incredible Hulk, The (1968 series) #421

Hulk #421 opens with a moment of calm as Hulk takes Betty Ross on a walk through the Mount’s botanical gardens, hoping to share a piece of his new life. But the peace is short-lived. When Hulk sees Ajax embracing Atalanta, he misinterprets the gesture as an attack and lashes out violently. Atalanta quickly intervenes, explaining that Ajax has made peace with her. Realizing his mistake, Hulk is visibly shaken and asks Ajax for forgiveness. The incident unsettles Betty, who sees echoes of the old Hulk in Ajax’s rage and Bruce’s impulsiveness.

Meanwhile, the Pantheon convenes to address a deeper betrayal. Their former leader, Agamemnon, has been exposed for selling his descendants to the Troyjans in exchange for immortality. The group agrees to track him down and bring him to justice. Agamemnon—now appearing as a teenage boy—is located in the Boston area, and Betty joins the mission.

Before the Pantheon can reach him, Jason the Renegade, a disgraced former member, confronts Agamemnon first. Surrounded, Agamemnon unleashes a hidden escape mechanism: an interdimensional vortex known as the Green Monster, which scatters the Pantheon across Asgard.

Hulk and Agamemnon land in the same region, where they are met by a bearded Thor—the Roger Norvell incarnation—who warns Hulk to leave the boy alone. The issue ends with tensions rising in the realm eternal, setting the stage for a mythic confrontation.
