Synopsis

Iron Man: Hypervelocity (2007 series) #4 synopsis by reviewer T Vernon
Rating: 4 stars

Infiltrating the underwater party of the mecha underground, the Iron Man armor inhabited by Tony Stark 2.0 creates a splinter personality to examine and fix any flaws within its software. The disguised Iron Man notes that many of the mecha are taking drug analogues such as Mekstacy 4.1. He identifies the robot that created the rail gun he was shot with in issue #2 and tries to engage him but by now Absynthe, the sentient hackware, has taken over the armor’s chameleonware and has it transmit a message in fifty languages that the disguised robot is Iron Man. And Absynthe also demonstrates that Mekstacy allows her to turn the addicts into her puppets, ordered to attack Iron Man. Shellhead 2.0 fights back, first by a “deafening” blast of gamesta rap and then by a complex series of maneuvers that push him to the surface of the ocean but he has also picked up some of SHIELD’s Loudmouth Drones which inform Major Aramaki where he is. Comments:

Review: Okay, I’ll admit it. I had an awful lot of trouble following that underwater battle and its aftermath, the techie jargon growing way too deep for me. So here’s where I praise the art which has been consistently great, clearly showing us what the writer’s descriptions may have had some difficulty with. Next issue should be better.
