Journey Into Mystery #646 Review by (February 24, 2014)
Review: A new team takes over and it turns out they can carry forward the standard set by Kieron Gillen in the previous run. Sif takes center stage and she becomes a violent berserker—yet the series still has the offbeat humor of the Loki-centered issues. Not sure I like the direction Sif is going in; I don’t like the darker male heroes so I’m not particularly relishing a dark heroine, but we’ll see where they take this. Added Bonus: This issue passes the Bechdel Test. Twice.

Comments: Sif becomes the star of this title as of this issue. The children have early issues of JOURNEY INTO MYSTERY, foreshadowing further developments.

Chatting with Gudrun, Sif laments the constant round of destruction and rebuilding every time Asgard faces an attack and longs to be stronger so that such disasters can be prevented. She awakens the sleeping dragon and forces it to tell her where to find the secret of the berserkers. Following that path she comes to the cave of Aerndis the teacher and summons her from the well, demanding to become a fiercer warrior. After some verbal jousting, Aerndis decides to grant her request. Sif then decapitates the teacher and heads to a bar in Broxton….
