Thor #605 Review by (October 15, 2012)
Review: A nightmarishly intense issue with the art nearly jumping off the page. The night battle has the feel of the Helm’s Deep scenes in LORD OF THE RINGS and is just as exciting. Plus, no elves!

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Thor #605 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro
In the Asgardian assault on Doom’s castle, Doctor Doom prepares to face Thor; nothing an avail however, as the God of Thunder easily deflects Doom’s attack and slams him off the wall with the blow of his mighty hammer. On the ground the Asgardian warriors fight Doom’s mindless cybernetic drones while fighting back the memories they had of their fellow citizens before they were grotesquely changed by the mad villain’s surgery. Thor is distracted from Doom by his need to rescue Balder from the enemy; Doom appears on the castle wall with the heartless corpse of the Lady Kelda. He hurls the body at their feet and orders them to leave. An enraged Thor rises into the air and strikes the villain down with lightning—revealing he has been dealing with a Doombot. But the electrical charge has been used by Doom to power a device deep in his lab…. Loki persuades his guards to allow him to go to the scene of battle. There he claims that Kelda may be revived if her heart can be restored to her in time. Heimdall sees the heart on a table in Doom’s lab and Thor crashes though three walls to reach the spot. Doom is there but so is something else: a huge armored figure which seizes Thor and dashes him to the floor. Doom has created a duplicate of the Asgardian Destroyer, powered by the Odinforce which he has drained from the tormented Asgardians he has captured and now made complete by Thor’s lightning strike. A hatch opens in the monster’s back and Doom enters to control the armor directly, and then it advances on Thor….
