Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Ultimates #1 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro
1945: In a US transport plane over the North Atlantic, American troops are worrying over their current mission: the seemingly suicidal attack on a base in Iceland where the Nazis are preparing a superweapon. Photographer Bucky Barnes reminds the men they have their own superweapon aboard: Captain America. The troops parachute into action and the fighting is fierce, the casualties high. Captain America crashes a plane into the enemy stronghold, and leads the men in a charge. In the main area of the building they come upon the Nazi superweapon: a rocket with a prototype hydrogen bomb, aimed at the White House. As the rocket is launched Cap makes a mad dash and leaps onto it, holding onto the tail. As the deadly missile finds its course, Cap sabotages the internal guidance system and drops into the icy Atlantic. The rocket explodes and Captain America, it seems, has made the ultimate sacrifice for his country…. 2002: millionaire business executive Tony Stark is on a retreat atop Mount Everest. Bursting with ideas for “The Plan” he calls a board meeting for the following Monday morning.
