Synopsis
Back in wartime, Captain America and Bucky fight their way into a fortress heavily armed with robot guns to plant an electro-bomb to take out the entire mechanism. They accomplish their objective, then must fight their way out though Nazi guards, on their way to silence the coastal guns to make the D-Day invasion possible. The heroic duo hurls their explosive capsules and… Steve Rogers returns to the present, trying to explain to Nick Fury the troubles of being a man out of his natural time. Fury asks Steve how he became Captain America. Steve’s mind drifts back to his early days: rejected for military service because of his frail health, he is recruited for a dangerous experiment. In a secret lab beneath an innocent-looking antique shop, Steve is given treatments by Professor Reinstein which turns him into a physical marvel. At this point a Nazi spy in the room shoots down Reinstein, destroying the possibility of more super-soldiers. The improved Steve swings into action, knocking the spy into an electrical device which kills him. As Captain America, Steve dedicates himself to battling the forces of tyranny. He pretends to be an incompetent GI as a cover for his heroic activities. When camp mascot Bucky Barnes discovers his secret, Cap enlists him as a partner in his fight for freedom.... Back in the present, Steve feels better for having gotten it all off his chest. As Fury takes his leave, he advises Steve to have some fun… but Steve fears he’s forgotten how.
