Mjolnir has ben stolen from Avengers Mountain and not even Sif can detect where it has gone; Thor turns to the only one he can trust for help: Loki. But Loki refuses, citing the bad experiences with Donald Blake the last time he helped Thor. Besides, there are a great number of people Thor can trust more than Loki, and suggests Thor find a spy….

In Foreverglade, Throg boasts of his mighty exploits in the war against Donald Blake to his people. Then Thor arrives and, to his surprise, Throg already knows of the theft of Mjolnir and agrees to recover it for Thor. Throg outlines a team: for transportation across the Ten Realms he will need the ravens Huginn and Muninn. For tracker, Lockjaw. As forward scout, Lockheed. And for a teammate with practice in the dark arts, he calls, not Doctor Strange but Strange’s dog, the ghostly Bats. Throg now reveals that he assembled his team four days ago and together, they are the Avengers….

Review / Commentaries

Thor (2020 series) #18 Review by (October 20, 2021)

Review: Pet Avengers assemble! Enjoyable comical issue (there’s no way to write a serious story featuring Frog Thor) is a prelude to the next arc called “God of Hammers” which should be fun. It would make a nice change from Thor brooding all the time.

Comments: The battle with Don Blake occupied issues #9-14 of this series. Bats, Dr. Strange’s ghost dog, first appeared as a live dog in DOCTOR STRANGE #381 and died in the following issue; the overwhelming bulk of his comic appearances fall after that event, including the one in this issue.
