Thor takes Jane Foster to Asgard. Asgardian warriors escort a captured troll. Jane is unnerved by the sight and Heimdall’s grim expression. Thor turns Jane into a flying goddess as Odin readies for war. These changes frighten Jane and lose faith, causing her to fall. Thor saves her, urging her to be fearless, like an immortal.

Odin tests Jane’s mettle by summoning the Unknown. Jane, terrified by the monster, forgets her powers and calls Thor. Thor banishes the Unknown. Jane requests Odin to take away her powers, and he sends her back to Earth. Thor, heartbroken, is sent to Gundersheim, where a troll brings back the Unknown.

Jane arrives on Earth, waking from a dream, and starts working for Dr. Kincaid.

Thor, weakened, struggles against the creature until Sif, a childhood friend, arrives to help. They banish the Unknown. Sif’s love reignites Thor’s spirit. Odin watches, content with his plan.

There Shall Come a Miracle! (Tales of Asgard series)

Writer: Stan Lee.Penciler: Jack Kirby. Inker: Vince Colletta. Letterer: Sam Rosen.

Synopsis

By Arcturus Jackson
Rating: 5 stars
Odin watches from Asgard (on a high-tech videoscreen), as Thor battles the dragon Fafnir in the desolate land of Nastrond. The All-Father announces that only with the slaying of Fafnir shall the land know a miracle…. Below, Thor uses his enchanted hammer Mjolnir to summon a storm unlike any that had been seen before and the lightning strikes cause the ground to open up beneath the evil dragon and drop him into the shadowy depths. As the land breaks up in a mighty upheaval, Thor, Hogun, and Fandral flee, pausing only to free the captive Volstagg. There follows the great miracle spoken of by Odin: for the first time in memory rain falls upon the blighted land of Nastrond, and soon vegetation will grow once more above the place where Fafnir fell, bringing life to the dead land.
