Thor and his allies are held fast in the high-tech bonds of the Soul-Survivors; two of them, K’rll and N’qll explain their situation: this planet was once called Templeworld and they lived in peace under the watchful eye of their god, The One Above All who dwelt among them. One day an alien armada invaded; The One Above All erected the barriers that shielded the world and so all the invaders perished but the deity had expended all of his energy and so died as well. They constructed their own armada and searched the universe, abducting various godlike beings to become their deity; when they died they were put into the space graveyard (seen in issue #260). Their latest god is Odin and he grows weary from sustaining this planet and Thor is a potential replacement….
The missing Hogun, Volstagg, and the Recorder head for the tower, destroying a Techno-Tracker on the way. They scale the tower and must fight off vicious flying predators on the way….
Back in Asgard, the phony Thor shows his true alignment and overpowers Balder and Karnilla….
The captives are taken before Odin who dies as Thor looks on. Stricken with grief, the Thunder God breaks his bonds and fights the armored guards; Sif and Fandral escape and join him, then the three missing heroes arrive and the battle gets really out of hand. It looks bad for the Soul-Survivors so K’rill and N’qll repair to the Spirit-Mold which shapes the Odinforce into a living form animated by K’rill and it confronts the Asgardians….
