The embodiment of the Odinforce—in the form of a blazing giant operated by K’rll of the Soul-Survivors—attacks Thor and his companions but they are unable to harm the flaming being. Thor lays the body of Odin aside and attacks the monster with all his might and nearly wins before he is dealt a mighty blow; as the heroes are attempting to recover, the Soul-Survivors try to drain their energy into their storage batteries. Surprisingly it is the cowardly Volstagg who stands up to the monster at this point. The portly hero surprises himself with the new-found ability to project energy blasts from his hands. But it doesn’t stop the living Odinforce—until the creature collapses and dissolves of its own accord. It is the power banks overloading and burning out, bringing disaster to this world. Odin recovers and the Asgardians head for the Starjammer as the Soul-Survivors contemplate the death of all they have lived for….
Odin slips into the Odinsleep and Thor constructs a wooden bed for him to occupy as they sail back to Asgard. Arriving at their home, they lay the All-Father to rest in his chambers and head to the throne room where they find Loki has taken command of the Golden Realm, backed by the Enchantress and the Executioner….
