Story Name:

The Return of Toro, Part 1

Synopsis

All-New Invaders #14 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 3.5 stars

Prologue: The cocoon holding Thomas “Toro” Raymond at the stronghold of Kurt Dagmar (seen at the end of issue #10) burst open, releasing the possibly different Toro….

Now Toro and his mentor Human Torch Jim Hammond fly back to SHIELD HQ while chatting about old times and new developments, such as Toro proving to be an inhuman rather than a mutant. Now Toro wants to relax and study French literature and visit Paris rather than Attilan, home of the Inhumans. Jim notices a hyperkinetic cat (once belonging to Speedball) under examination by scientists; he asks what will happen when they are done with it. The cat will be euthanized as it isn’t human. This disturbs Jim…. A call comes in that Iron Cross is in trouble so Torch and Toro are on their way….

In Germany, Iron Cross is a trapped by a neo-Nazi gang but she isn’t worried. She knows that help is on the way. On cue, the Invaders burst in and take on the baddies. Suddenly, Toro changes, his flames becoming more intense and uncontrolled. Then another player enters the picture: the brutish Inhuman Lash, looking for his brethren….

Review / Commentaries

All-New Invaders #14 Review by (February 7, 2015)
Comments: Lash was introduced in INHUMANITY #1. Steve Rogers Captain America appears in the prologue. Most of what is described in the solicit is not in the issue; don’t they let the solicit writer see upcoming comics?

Review: So what is happening to Toro? No idea but they have one more issue in which to show us as this title is coming to an end. So, is Toro mutant, inhuman, android or something new and original? Stories that ask what it means for an android or mutant to be human are always fun, if only to see how much serious thought is put into answering a completely imaginary question. And Europeans wonder why American science fiction tends to be so frivolous. Where this will all go, as we also ponder what happened to the Martians, Killraven, Tanalth, Makkari, and Deathlok? I dunno but I can wait.
