Story Name:

Gods and Soldiers, Part Five

Synopsis

All-New Invaders #5 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 4 stars

On the Kree homeworld, Winter Soldier frees the imprisoned Aarkus (the original Vision), having used a drug to fake his death earlier. A suspicious Tanalth the Pursuer catches them and opens fire on Bucky while Aarkus uses the smoke generated by the explosions to travel elsewhere on his mission. Bucky then leads Tanalth on a chase across the rooftops of Hala.

In the central area, the other InvadersCaptain America, Sub-Mariner, and the original Human Torch—battle Ikaris of the Eternals, whose mind is controlled by means of the Gods’ Whisper device. Ikaris doesn’t want to hurt them but he can’t help himself. The Supreme Intelligence mocks the heroes’ efforts so Cap explains that the Kree have fallen into his trap: Subby is keeping Ikaris occupied, Bucky is searching for the Gods’ Whisper, and Torch has been raising the radiation level in his flame so that the final blast will knock the Kree soldier unconscious. After that is done, Cap slings his shield, which has been coated with nanites containing a computer virus into the Supreme Intelligence and shuts it down. Tanalth then arrives to find herself the only Kree standing. Aarkus arrives with Makkari of the Eternals to rescue Ikaris and it’s done….

Back on Earth, Namor indicates he will join any further adventures with his old comrades and departs. Cap explains that the Eternals took the Gods’ Whisper and Aarkus went with them. Cap then reveals that Torch has been named a SHIELD agent.

Epilogue: In the Negative Zone, Ikaris and Thena are joined by Aarkus, aiding them in their plan of revenge against the Kree—by using the Gods’ Whisper to control Galactus as their weapon….

Review / Commentaries

All-New Invaders #5 Review by (June 6, 2014)
Review: The story seemed a bit too short but it ended on one terrific note: Galactus versus the Kree—someday. Pretty cool wrap-up to the tale with the promise of more to come.

Comments: A No-Prize to anyone who can divine what the cover, with the heroes dressed in Kree battle armor, has to do with the story. Proof that Galactus is overused: he appears here and in the current Thor storyline.
