Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Captain America and the Mighty Avengers #8 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

Steve Rogers addresses the Mighty Avengers informing them that a) the multiverse is dying as all the various worlds crash into one another and b) the Illuminati have known about this for some time and were keeping it a secret. Steve had tried to warn the Illuminati against merely destroying the parallel Earths, killing billions but they mind-wiped him and tossed him out. Kaluu approves of that course, making Steve angry. Steve walks out, determined to stop the Illuminati and asks the Mighty Avengers to decide which side they are on....

The secret of the imminent demise of the Earth becomes public knowledge; the comic provides us with a gallery of responses from various parties including the UN, Ruby Neal, the White House, right-wing TV, Peter Corbeau, Soraya Khorasani, and conspiracy theorists....

As the days tick down, White Tiger goes to visit her family to reconcile with them and she is driven away, literally at gun point....

Spectrum calls a special meeting of the Mighty Avengers and they vote to join Steve Rogers against the Illuminati....

The final battle between the two sides takes place in Cadiz, Spain. After it is over, Blue Marvel confronts Mr Fantastic and Black Panther. He blames Reed for the disaster by being too secretive and not opening up to all the other heroes, effectively preventing the saving of the world. Reed and T'Challa are insulted; they stand by their decision and depart. Spectrum stops Reed, insisting that he is the one who doesn't understand; the Illuminati have failed and it is up to everyone else to pick up the pieces...if anyone survives....
