Synopsis

Incredible Hulk #14 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 4 stars

Bruce Banner is approaching Las Vegas when a truck comes barreling toward him and he suddenly finds himself in a hanging cage. His neighbor, a skeleton in another cage, greets him, revealing he is Rick Jones, who warns Bruce that the way back is closing and he has limited time to escape the Hulkscape where a massively gigantic monster Hulk is battling a purple creature with a bone club. Rick also notes that Bruce is the only prisoner there as this place exists only because of him. A glowing bird breaks through Rick’s ribcage and flies into Hulk-Monster’s eye, distracting him so that purple monster lands a blow to his head that drops Hulk-Monster into a river. The massive wave pulls down Bruce’s cage and he escapes; as the Rick-Bird leads the way, Hulk’s voice in Bruce’s mind keeps up a barrage of threats. Bruce explains his current history with Hulk and Charlie as they enter the ruins of a city. A Gargoyle-Hulk drops from a building top to menace Bruce but a Griffin-Hulk swoops down to carry him off. Lightning hits the Griffin, shattering it and Bruce plummets, landing on an inclined wall of windows. Bruce struggles to the top where Rick-Bird reveals he is the Hulk, tormenting Bruce all the time. Green meteors speed toward Bruce who falls…

…only to wake up in darkness. Betty Ross comes to him, telling him she has forgiven him for everything. She hands him a huge claw, telling him it is from the Eldest and informing him that Hulk can save Charlie only by making her a monster. Charlie’s soul is trapped in a prison of her own nightmares. At the Temple of Lycana, Bruce will have a choice: either condemn Charlie to life as a monster or cut the Mark of the Eldest into his flesh and give up the Hulk….

Incredible Hulk #14 Review by (July 17, 2024)

Review: Dark, impressionistic voyage through the hellscape called the Hulkscape. Nice tale but didn’t we see all this in IMMORTAL HULK? Let’s hope the story is more lucid here.

Comments:Weapon X-Traction starts inside! Part 1 of 8”—Cover. No idea whether this Hulkscape is the same one from IMMORTAL HULK. The time Banner harnessed Hulk’s power to travel through the universe was in HULK (2021). Nic Klein contributed to the colors.
