Incredible Hulk, The (1968 series) #333

This is the story of an abused wife, regularly beaten by her husband—the town’s sheriff, who uses his authority to mask his cruelty.

Elsewhere, the Hulk learns that he will revert to Bruce Banner at sunrise. To prevent Banner from returning to Gamma Base and seeking a cure, Hulk breaks into a liquor store and consumes hundreds of alcoholic beverages.

At sunrise, Bruce Banner is found drunk by the police and taken to jail. At sunset, the sheriff assaults Banner, triggering his transformation into the Gray Hulk.

Hulk hurls the sheriff into the street, where a crowd gathers and cheers as the Hulk fights back against the abusive lawman. At that moment, the sheriff’s wife is attempting to leave him but witnesses the confrontation. She tries to help her husband, but he lashes out at her in rage. In the chaos, she accidentally shoots him, and the sheriff falls dead.

As the dust settles, Hulk reflects on who the real monster was and leaps away into the night.

Meanwhile, Betty Ross leaves Gamma Base to meet Ramon.
