Thor and the Recorder arrive back at the Rigellians as Galactus investigates the Black Galaxy’s life forms.
Thor returns to Earth with the Colonizers, ordering Tana Nile to retreat. Back on Rigel, they reveal the Grand Commissioner, who she loves, wants to marry her.
Thor searches for Jane Foster with a Rigellian psyche-search gauge. Tagar and Porga escort Jane to Wundagore in Transia. Bandits attack, but the Knights of Wundagore defeat them. The Knights of Wundagore capture Thor and take him to Wundagore, where he was shocked by their unmasked animal forms.
Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch see lights on a mountaintop near Wundagore.
Thor interrupts the High Evolutionary, the Knights’ leader, while he’s developing a wolf. He dispatches Thor to Jane, who’s teaching a class of New Men. Thor’s interference has made the wolf incredibly powerful and evil.

Synopsis
Centuries ago, the evil race of
Nastrond rebelled against
Odin and he cursed the land with blight in his wrath. Now the
All-Father has dispatched
Thor and the
Warriors Three to the desolate waste to survey the territory. After they survey the land (including a river turned to cracked crystal) they set up camp, planning to return to Asgard the following day. In the night,
Volstagg is woken from guard duty by an old hermit, who offers to lead him to the
Cave of the Ancients where he will find great knowledge. Ever desirous of glory, the doughty warrior follows the old man into a gigantic cavern where waits a radiant pool. Suddenly, Volstagg is seized by
Fafnir, the last king of Nastrond, who reveals that the hermit was a mental projection and the energy of the pool has transformed him into a giant dragon. And this dragon seeks revenge against Odin—and Thor himself will be a hostage….
