Agatha Harkness – in the form of her cat Ebony – reveals that Hellcat is in control of the Scarlet Witch's body. When she restores Wanda's consciousness, Hellcat disappears. Wanda explains to her confused teammates what just happened. The Enchantress senses that Ebony is not what he appears and restores Agatha to her human form.

Iron Man theorizes that if they can sever Loki's connection to the reactor, they stand a better chance of defeating him. They make their way to the reactor chamber and find that this will be no easy task as it is surrounded by an impenetrable Loki-powered field.

The Avengers decide to try a new approach. The Scarlet Witch, Agatha Harkness, and Enchantress combine their magics to create a construct of Odin and engage Loki. Their plan is to deplete Loki's excess energy, forcing him to re-open the field for additional energy. Their gamble pays off, allowing Hank Pym, Thor, and Iron Man to drain the energy away from the reactor. Loki realizes that something is wrong, but he must defeat Odin first. Focusing his remaining energy, he delivers a fatal blow to Odin, who is revealed to be a magically enhanced Viking Thor.

Loki is fully aware of what has transpired and returns to Avengers' Mansion. Once all the reactor's energy has been absorbed, it is redirected toward Loki. This unexpected development is too much for the trickster god who then disintegrates under their combined assault.

Later on Captain America visits Hawkeye in the hospital. Clint apologizes for his actions, preparing to resign from the Avengers in disgrace. Cap reminds him that he was under Loki's enchantment and not acting completely on his own. He's still an Avenger as far as he's concerned.
