Synopsis

Avengers #4 synopsis by Kevin Hollander
Rating: 3 stars
The Hulk makes his way to Marlboro, NY where he is found by General Ross' special Gamma Force. Despite making clear identification of the creature, he manages to escape.

On Avengers' Island, Hank Pym uses his specialize micron gas to shrink down in size to begin repairs on the severely damaged Vision. Ultron-4 is recording all activities as per Pym's request. Once Pym is inside the Vision, Ultron-4 severs the cables used to lower him in. When Janet Van Dyne arrives looking for Hank, Ultron-4 claims that Pym is not in his lab and has assigned him the task of monitoring the Vision alone.

The Hulk later finds himself in upstate New York. While taking a short water break, he sees Bruce Banner's reflection in the pond. While the Hulk screams threats aimed against his alter ego, a bird lands on his shoulder and tells him that Banner can be found on Avengers' Island. This talking bird is actually Loki in disguise. This is one part of his partnership with the Enchantress to reclaim her long-lost daughter, the Scarlet Witch. Another part of his plan involves turning Wanda's current guardian Agatha Harkness into a tree to prevent her interference. On Avengers' Island, the Enchantress - disguised as Agatha - convinces Wanda to leave the Avengers for her own safety.

The Hulk makes his way to Avengers' Island and begins to tear through the building in the hopes of finding and killing Bruce Banner. Four Avengers are alerted to his presence (Hellcat, Hawkeye, Captain America, and Swordsman) and try to stop the gamma-powered assailant.

They fall short of this goal. Hellcat, Hawkeye and Captain America are rendered unconscious. The Swordsman's hands are crushed.

And the Hulk is just warming up.

Comments: Churchill's pencils added a much-needed improvement in the artwork. His style is cleaner than Yaep and provides more detail than any of Liefeld's efforts.
