Big Apple Showdown: Conclusion

Synopsis

Totally Awesome Hulk #18 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 4 stars

On the chunk of Manhattan orbiting Seknarf Seven as a food colony, the humans have fought back and Jeffrey Gunderblank was killed so the Protectors (Hulk, Silk, Shang-Chi, Ms. Marvel, Jake Oh, Jimmy Woo) are waging all-out war on their alien captors. Prince Regent Phalkan orders his guards to concentrate on the Hulk, the only one who poses a real threat. Hulk pushes all the humans behind him and receives the concentrated electrical attacks of the enemy; he’s still standing because they have made him angry. The Seknarfians channel all their power into their spears and attack again; Hulk falls to one knee but quickly gathers his strength and hurls them all away while blowing out their armor. But Phalkan realizes Hulk is also out of power and he moves to kill Hulk with a dagger—but Jimmy Woo clouts the villain with a sledgehammer and the other humans mob the villain. But Hulk stops them from killing Phalkan, lest they become like their enemies. They are “Protectors” after all. Alpha Flight arrives to pick up the Earth people. Sasquatch tells Jimmy Woo that they are negotiating with the leaders of Seknarf Seven and that Phalkan is a traitor who will be imprisoned. Later, Amadeus and Jimmy have a talk about what just happened: Jimmy thinks killing the Seknarfians would have been justified but Amadeus doesn’t—as Phalkan is taken away vowing to kill and eat their families. After Jimmy leaves with Alpha Flight, Kamala and Cindy stay with Amadeus, waiting to be teleported back to Earth with Herald Square and tell Amadeus that they agree with him….

48 hours later, the heroes show up at a children’s hospital while Jimmy Woo looks on in approval….

Totally Awesome Hulk #18 Review by (April 8, 2020)

Review: Another exciting action tale, another lame moral lesson, and it all evens out to an enjoyable issue. Not much else to say and that's cool sometimes.
