As the report that Captain America is dead, slain by his foes at Hydra, sweeps the nation, Iron Man reviews his friend’s Avengers file. He reads about Cap’s adventures at the beginning of World War II: his teaming with Bucky and their battles against the Red Skull, the Butterfly, the Ringmaster of Evil, the Legion of Beggars, the White Death, and the Toadman. When America entered the War, Cap undertook overseas combat exploits with Bucky, culminating in that fateful mission against Baron Zemo in which Bucky died heroically and Cap was lost to the world for twenty years. Tony remembers how Cap was discovered by the Sub-Mariner and set adrift, rescued by the Avengers, joining them in their struggle against evil and tyranny. Soon Cap linked up with Nick Fury and SHIELD, finding love with Sharon Carter and fighting by her side against MODOK and A.I.M. and the fourth Sleeper, and his contests against Batroc, the Tumbler, the Swordsman and the Living Laser, the Exiles, the Trapster, and Dr. Faustus. Now his heroic career is over. Tony salutes his fallen comrade and vows that he will be avenged.

Captain America (1968 series) #112 Review by (February 15, 2010)
First appearance of Iron Man in a Captain America title. Ironically none of the other Avengers appear in the flashback section. This album issue looks like a last-minute fill-in (by Jack Kirby, one of the fastest artists ever) when Steranko couldn't meet his deadline for the climax to the trilogy.
