Incredible Hulk, The (1968 series) #459

After safely landing a damaged plane on his shoulders, the Hulk is approached by Mercy, who leads him into a confrontation with one of his oldest enemies—the Abomination. During the fight, Hulk becomes disoriented, mistaking the Abomination for various incarnations of himself. Fueled by confusion and rage, he delivers a brutal beating, leaving his foe severely defeated.

When Mercy reappears, the Hulk pleads with her to end his life. She refuses, instead warning him of the impending arrival of the Celestials—cosmic beings whose presence may reshape everything.

Meanwhile, Colonel Cary St. Lawrence and General Thunderbolt Ross begin seeking help from other superheroes, hoping to find a way to stop the Hulk before his power becomes uncontrollable.
