Incredible Hulks #628 Review by (August 13, 2018)

Review: Though this and the next issue continue the James Bond theme in their respective titles, the stories themselves don't follow through. Not to worry, the stories are still quite entertaining, just lacking that extra layer of goofiness that comes from parodying a well-known movie series. And Bruce and Betty/Hulk and Red are still a fun duo to watch bickering.

Comments: Part three of four parts. Title is a parody of the James Bond title LIVE AND LET DIE. Hulk battled Zeus and lost in issues #621-622. Final appearance to date (2018) of the Knights of Rome; no big deal.

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Incredible Hulks #628 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

The Knights of Rome are flying through the air carrying the captive Tyrannus and Dr Sofia Di Cosimo, plus Pandora's Box, when they are challenged by General Gladwell in a NATO flying base and ordered to surrender. The Knights respond by shooting the craft out of the sky, sending it plummeting to the crowded streets of Rome. Fortunately Hulk and Red She-Hulk are on the scene to catch the craft and lower it gently to the ground. The Knights take Sofia and Tyrannus to their flying fortress where they reveal themselves to be decayed monsters, continuing their mission using pagan magic to combat pagan enemies—and they want to know what is in the urn called Pandora's Box....

Hulk and Red, still bickering, are launched by the NATO base toward the Knights' fortress but find it protected by a web of mystic energy. They quickly change back into Bruce Banner and Betty Ross and slip through the spaces in the energy net, reassuming their Hulk forms to land. Entering, Hulk is attacked by a giant force in the form of an eagle, powered by Zeus—who had defeated Hulk earlier. By comm link, Amadeus Cho advises Red and Tyrannus to insult Hulk, hoping his anger will give him the strength he needs to defeat the eagle. It does, with a bit of aid from Red. While the two Hulks share a romantic kiss, Tyrannus conks the head Knight on the bean and hits the switch that converts the flying fortress into a massive monstrous stone machine that he controls—and has the two Hulks captive....
