Hulk wakes up on top of Mount Rushmore as a couple of soldiers are trying to capture him. The Goldbug shows up aboard his spaceship and turns both soldiers into golden statues.

Hulk appreciates the Goldbug’s help and boards his ship. Clay Quartermain and a squad of jet planes can do anything to stop them.

The Goldbug tricks Hulk by locking him in metal handles that absorb his power. Hulk’s gamma radiation would fuel the vessel. Goldbug directs his ship to El Dorado, a secret city in the Andes of South America with vast amounts of gold. But a group called They Who Wield Power causes a malfunction in the power bands, and Hulk breaks free.

Next, the ship crashes into a mountainous region. Hulk saved the Goldbug by grabbing him and leaping outside before impact. When Hulk is about to hit the Goldbug, an old man comes out from the mist calling him “Savior”.

Also in this story: Senator Hawk.
