Synopsis

Captain America (2005 series) #31 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 4 stars
A distraught Sharon Carter walks the streets, fighting against the hypnotic suggestion in her head until she finally gives in and goes to join the Red Skull. Meanwhile Bucky Barnes finds himself back during the War as Captain America’s sidekick—and with a shock discovers that Cap is a traitor, secretly working for the Nazis. Cap shoots him—and with a scream he awakens in the clutches of Dr Faustus, seeking to bend his will into the service of the Red Skull. At SHIELD HQ as the Falcon and Black Widow recover from Sharon’s attack with a neural neutralizer, Tony Stark explains that Sharon is Cap’s real killer, her mind controlled, along with many other SHIELD agents, by Dr Faustus. Elsewhere, the Red Skull enlists Kronas Corp's private army into his scheme of world domination. Faustus continues to try to break Bucky’s mind by playing on his resentment of the Invaders and presenting Captain America as a murderer. When it doesn’t work, he moves on to the grand scheme: replaying Bucky’s apparent death, abandoned by Steve Rogers to save his own skin, left to die, but only mutilated, falling into the hands of the Soviets who turned him into the assassin known as the Winter Soldier. Bucky aims and fires….
