Synopsis

Captain America (2005 series) #34 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 4 stars
In the wake of Aleksander Lukin’s reported death, Kronas names Vladmir Morovin the new CEO and he announces plans to double oil prices, while the corporation’s financial arm forecloses mortgages, creating an economic crisis in America. Citizens protest in the streets, and with police called out, rioting is an imminent threat. Bucky Barnes heads out on his new mission, bearing the shield of Captain America, with the Black Widow as backup. On the way, he suits up in a newly designed costume ("I could never wear Steve’s uniform.") including a gun. They arrive at their destination: a bank where A.I.M. and R.A.I.D. operatives are planning to loot Wall Street’s gold reserves. A flung shield announces the arrival of the new Captain America! Cap and the Widow assault the villains, as the sight of the famous uniform and shield throws them into confusion. The new hero defeats the entire group but is frustrated at not being able to strike a blow directly against the Red Skull—until Natalia reminds him that this is what Captain America does. Meanwhile on the SHIELD Helicarrier, Tony Stark is trying to convince a government official that Lukin’s death was faked as part of a plan by the Red Skull to cripple the country economically. The Secretary isn’t buying it, claiming that Kronas’ machinations are just a financial ploy; at this point Tony realizes that Kronas has bought major politicians as well. Stark then receives the bad news: the missing SHIELD agents have all reappeared—on crowd control duty at the White House. On Dr Faustus’ relayed orders, the subverted agents fire on the massed protestors….

Captain America (2005 series) #34 Review by (February 15, 2010)
Regarding wearing a Captain America uniform, Bucky says "I could never wear Steve's uniform. I'm not him and I won't pretend I am. Just 'cause I'm not him doesn't mean I can't honor his memory." The title of this ongoing chapter changed from "The Death of The Dream" to "The Death of Captain America".
