Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Incredible Hulk #102 Synopsis by Gaetan Marcon
Bruce Banner is falling to his death. He has been changed back from his Hulk personae by the treacherous god Loki while attempting to jump across a chasm. His falling form is sighted by the Enchantress who decides to spare his life in hopes of gaining information about her beloved Hercules. Her ally, the Executioner, voices his objections to no avail. Seeing no sign that their host has survived the fall, the Asgardian Warriors Three, Fandral, Hogun and Volstagg, resume their quest to find Oldar the Oracle to get information about the green behemoth's origin.

The oracle chronicles the event which led to the creation of the Hulk and his following brushes with the army and humanity at large, including conflicts with Thor and the Silver Surfer. Her vision leads the warriors to believe the Hulk may have survived his fall into the void and they are warned of an impending doom for Asgard.

Meanwhile, having proven himself of no real help to the Enchantress, Bruce Banner is left at the mercy of the Executioner who witnesses the transformation of the confused human into his monstrous counterpart, the Hulk. A fight ensues during which the Executioner tries to weaken the Hulk with the mystical powers of his axe. The monster retaliates by throwing him at his oncoming troops of Trolls. The monster brings the house down to escape.

The Enchantress then convinces the Executioner it is time to put their plan to conquer Asgard in motion. The hordes of Trolls soon leave for the surface, only to be followed closely by the Hulk. Hurling himself at the Trolls, the Hulk widens the chasm to send the troops back to their subterranean dwellings. As an act of vengeance, the Enchantress uses a spell which kills the Hulk (!)

Odin the All-Father then bestows the gift of life back on the behemoth, only to find himself threatened by the Hulk. Fandral begs his lord not to harm the Hulk, and Odin simply sends the creature back home using his royal scepter.

Also in this story (in flashbacks): Igor Starsky, Rick Jones.
