Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Incredible Hulk #10 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

In a mysterious world of metal and trees, young Anatoli heads into the forest on his coming-of-age quest to see Mother. A hull rupture delivers the Hulk to the forest and he discovers he is in a space station. Hulk fights off a cyborg bear and they find Mother, a dead female astronaut in a depressurized room. Later Hulk joins a band of youths by the fireside as the “Old One” (a boy only a few years older than the others) relates their history. At the height of the Cold War, Soviet Russia launched a top secret military/science space base, dedicated to creating cyborg bears, super-soldiers, and other weapons. With the fall of the USSR, the station was forgotten, the inhabitants formed tribes and fought each other, leaving only the kids, the bears, and the last super-soldier, whom they call Father....

Elsewhere, Father detects the presence of a hated American aboard the craft and cuts the gravity. Hulk goes out and fights the bears in zero gravity then battles Father. The kids suddenly restore gravity, Hulk and Father drop, putting a hole in the hull and Father is frozen in space, with Hulk shattering him into pieces....

Free of their enemy, the kids pilot the station through the solar system, giving Mother a space funeral, and launching Hulk in the escape craft toward Earth. Hulk realizes he doesn't know how to fly the ship so he passes out, ceding control to Banner and happy (wrongly) knowing Banner was not able to achieve whatever goal he had there....

When Hulk next awakens, he is staring down the barrel of a weapon wielded by Kraven the Hunter....
