Incredible Hulk #14 Review by (January 29, 2019)

Review: Who knew the Doombots were funny? Jason Aaron apparently. Okay middle issue of the three-issue arc still has the problem with the Mad Squad being a bit silly but that's a minor quibble. To make up for that The Vegetable seems like a clever and formidable new villain though he doesn't last long.

Comments: Part two of three parts. First appearance of The Vegetable. First, and to date [1/2019] only, appearance of Brain Damage, Inc.

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Incredible Hulk #14 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

The Doombots hire Brain Damage, Inc. to murder Hulk and Bruce Banner for them. The company dispatches their top agent to do the job: a comatose man in a hospital bed called The Vegetable....

In Antarctica, Hulk is preparing to hunt down Doctor Doom but the Mad Squad, on a mission to kill Bruce Banner, wants to know where the scientist is and BRAIN tries to restrain Hulk. Bad move as he easily puts them down. Commander Amanda von Doom realizes that Hulk and Banner are united again and when Hulk reveals he is planning to kill Dr Doom, the Mad Squad eagerly joins him. They take off in the Squad's flying train, piloted by their Hulked-out monkey. Commander von Doom shows him a prisoner they picked up on Banner's island: a damaged Doombot being tortured by Mr. Gor to give up its secrets...

...which can be detected by the assembled Doombots in Latveria. As they prepare to defend the realm, one of them asks whether Doom may have abandoned them. He is executed for his blasphemy and the other continue their activities...up until the moment that the train crashes into their stronghold. Hulk and his allies smash the Doombots then The Vegetable, the most powerful mental assassin in history, invades Hulk's/Banner's mind. Appearing as a giant in spiked armor, Vegetable seizes Banner, forcing Hulk to relinquish control of their brain as the Doombots unleash the Hulked-out animal men created by Banner earlier....
