Stay Angry!

Synopsis

Incredible Hulk #8 synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Rating: 4 stars

As Bruce Banner watches and comments from inside his head, he transforms into the Hulk and awakens in a mysterious building, surrounded by men who are acting like dogs. He fights his way out to find he's in Mexico just as the Punisher is passing by in his truck. Punisher has been on the trail of the man-dogs and he shoots down all in sight. The two reluctantly team up, Hulk offering to aid the vigilante against he dogs just so he can find out what Banner was doing there. At a nearby bar, Punisher finds a man who can tell him where to find the drug dealer/dog-man leader Pit Bull, who is looking for a new chemist; Castle thanks him with a fatal bullet....

On the road not far away, Pit Bull—an actual man with the head of a dog—is dealing with his failed former chemist, dragging him to his death behind a truck....

A calm Hulk realizes he is about to transform back into Banner so he asks the Punisher to shoot him in the face; it keeps him angry enough to stay green. The (sort of) good guys catch up to the bad dogs and as Hulk and Pit Bull fight in the back of a truck, Hulk learns that Pit Bull intends to make Bruce Banner his new chemist in exchange for what Banner wanted: one of Pit Bull's fingers. The baddie shoots Hulk in the face with a huge dose of heroin so to stay angry, he grabs Pit Bull and a chain and drags the two of them behind the truck; learning what he wanted to know, Hulk abandons Punisher to his task and locates the self-storage facility indicated by Pit Bull. There he finds a case with the dog-man's finger on ice and the case releases gas to knock out the Hulk...

...who awakens to find a huge scar in the center of his chest and an Atlantean woman insisting she only did what he (Banner) wanted her to....

Incredible Hulk #8 Review by (December 18, 2018)

Review: Who would have thunk it? Jason Aaron has a sense of humor. Well, maybe you knew it. Me, my first exposure to his material was the God Butcher arc which opened his run on Thor and that was one of the darkest, grimmest, most heavy-handed adventures I've ever read from Marvel. So I'm a bit surprised to read something funny by him (I did see his lighter, more poetic touch on the Jane Thor series). So...Hulk is chasing a drug dealer with a dog head who has literal b-tches with him. And he's teamed with the Punisher who mostly threatens and shoots (that's what he's best at). And Hulk gets the line “You wouldn't like me when I'm not angry.” Pretty goofy with Steve Dillon's art making this look more serious then it deserves.

Comments:Stay Angry Part 1.”--Cover. Sole appearance of Pit Bull and his gang. Hulk and Punisher previously met in INCREDIBLE HULK #395-396 and 433.
