Journey Into Mystery #638 Review by (October 21, 2013)
Review: A beautifully chaotic epic wherein we learn the odd origin of the Disir; what’s not to like?

Comments: Comments: “Exiled.” Continued from NEW MUTANTS #42; continues in NEW MUTANTS #43. Sif doesn’t seem to be in this issue, but then she shouldn’t have been in the previous two either.

Journey Into Mystery #638 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro
Story continued from NEW MUTANTS #42.

The Disir are on a rampage and the New Mutants must stop them with the aid of the confused amnesiac Asgardian heroes. Dani Moonstar slashes her own palm and uses the blood to lure the cannibal women away. Meanwhile, "Luke" is bitten by his Hell-Hound Thori and recovers his identity as Loki. He and Dani lead the Disir to the home of the disguised Hela and it snaps the Goddess of Death back to her identity. Hela supplies the heroes with the magic weapons needed to contain the monsters. Here we learn the origin of the Disir: they were shieldmaidens pledged to Bor, father of Odin, and they broke their vows for a night of sensual pleasure with Sigurd and his men. For that, Bor cursed them to roam the world as cannibal monsters until they either kill or marry Sigurd….

Epilogue: Dani goes to Hel to invite Bor to officiate at the wedding of Sigurd and the Disir….
