Totally Awesome Hulk #10 Review by (December 24, 2019)

Review: Again, Amadeus’ turmoil over the death of his friend Bruce Banner causes a great deal of concern among those who fear the new Hulk. And Amadeus as usual doesn’t make life easy for anyone. This will come back and bite him in a couple of issues but for now, he’s sparring with Black Panther who seems to be concerned with having everything under control, even when notorious control freak Carol Danvers is at ease. Plus, T’Challa seems highly annoyed with having to take Jake Oh along, implying some hostility between T’Challa and Carol and then he demands Jake justify his inclusion on the mission. Fortunately for Jake, he does, by portraying himself as one of the multitudes who have to deal with the orders of kings. Nice little character moment, though Panther doesn’t act like a team player. And there a monster on the horizon too! Very promising.

Comments: CIVIL WAR II tie-in. Issues #9-12 take place between CIVIL WAR II #4-5.

Synopsis / Summary / Plot

Totally Awesome Hulk #10 Synopsis by Peter Silvestro

Aboard the SHIELD Helicarrier, Black Panther prepares to track down the new HulkAmadeus Cho in his huge battle armor. Captain Marvel assigns Agent Jake Oh to go along a SHIELD liaison. Aboard their two-man ship, T’Challa questions Jake’s fitness for the mission and he convinces the King that being a grunt who takes orders qualifies him for the job. They find Amadeus having a meal in a diner; Panther explains that their concern is Hulk’s going after Clint (Hawkeye) Barton who killed Bruce Banner. But Amadeus knows they’re watching and writes “Bye” on the table in soda and hits the trail on his motorbike. Sister Maddy Cho intercepts him, asking what he thinks he’s doing. Turns out Amadeus can’t get over Bruce Banner’s death: he was cured, he was no threat, yet he had Hawkeye kill him so Amadeus is going to find Hawkeye and decide what to do then. She tells him of a monster sighting in Austin, Texas but he is firm….

Hulk (bursting out of the trunk in Amadeus’ mental picture) arrives at Clint Barton’s remote cabin but he enters as Amadeus and confronts Clint. But in an instant he’s Hulk again—and “Clint” cuts off the induced image to reveal Black Panther. T’Challa attacks with sonics but Hulk is able to clap him away. Next the hero uses gas but Hulk is immune. Amadeus insists he’s not dangerous; T’Challa demands he surrender. Hulk refuses, Panther uses electricity, warning Hulk his battle armor absorbs energy, making him stronger. Hulk refuses….

In Austin, Maddy Cho helps a young man flee the disaster area—and then he transforms into a huge -insectoid monster….
